National Health Network Gets Exemption Extension

Department of Economic Development

The National Health Network’s current conditional exemption has been extended for a period of four months.

The economic development department announced the extension in Government Gazette 41456.

The extension applies from 1 January 2018 until 30 April 2018.

The conditions are the same as those issued in 2014 when the exemption was first granted.

The most recent exemption expired on 31 December 2017.

The Competition Commission is currently investigating the NHN’s further application to engage on behalf of its members in “global fee negotiations with medical schemes, administrators, the state and healthcare providers (professional associations) and to undertake collective or centralised procurement.”
