Council for TVET Colleges Seeks New Members

The Council for the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Colleges seeks new members.

The higher education and training department published the call for nominations in Government Gazette 41817.

The call was made in terms of the Continuing Education and Training Act.

Members serve a five-year term and the council meets at least four times per annum.

Nominations are invited until 20 August 2018.

Meanwhile, in Gazette 41821, the department has called for comment on proposed occupational qualifications.

The plan is to register the proposed qualifications on the qualifications sub-framework for trades and occupations.

Some of the proposed qualifications include Occupational Certificate: Footwear Designer, NQF Level 6, Credits 373; Occupational Certificate: Management Accountant, NQF Level 8, Credits 720; Occupational Certificate: Painter, NQF Level 4, Credits 549; Occupational Certificate: Driving Instructor, NQF Level 4, Credits 41 and Occupational Certificate: Company Secretary, NQF Level 8, Credits 544.

Comment is invited within 21 days of the date of publication.

In a separate matter, the basic education department has, in Gazette 41824, called for comment on two notices pertaining to the conduct, administration and management of the national senior certificate examination.

Notice 802 calls for comment on proposed amendments to national policy in terms of the National Education Policy Act while Notice 803 calls for comment on proposed amendments to regulations drawn up in terms of the South African Schools Act.

Comment on both notices is invited within 21 days of the date of publication.
