DBE Shines Light on Multiple Examination Option

Proposed amendments to the National Policy Pertaining to the Conduct, Administration and Management of the National Senior Certificate Examination have been published for comment.

Published in Government Gazette 41240, the draft amendments seek to include pre-conditions for multiple examination option (MEO) into the policy.

The amendment focuses on the criteria to be satisfied by a learner before the learner is allowed to exercise the MEO.

Comment has also been called on three proposed amendments to policy and regulations related to the MEO:

•    Notice 1250 - National Policy Pertaining to the Programme and Promotion Requirements of the National Curriculum Statement Grades R -12.
•    Notice 1251 - Regulations Pertaining to the National Curriculum Statement Grades R -12
•    Notice 1230 - Regulations ertaining to the Conduct, Administration and Management of the National Senior Certificate examination.

Comment on the four notices is invited within 21 days of the date of publication.

The department, in Gazette 41251, has also called for comment on the repeal and replacement of Chapter 10 and Annexure M of the regulations pertaining to the conduct, administration and management of the national senior certificate examination.
