Policy on PSET Central Application Service Drawn Up

Department of Higher Education and Training

A policy designed to provide a single, affordable, easy to understand application process for the Post School Education and Training (PSET) Sector has been published in Government Gazette 41226.

The Policy for the Post-School Education and Training Central Application Service outlines how the PSET Central Application Service (CAS) is to be set up and the governance structures and operational rules that will maintain it.

The policy will provide applicants access to multiple institutions throughout the entire PSET sector.

It will also facilitate planning for and reporting on the entire PSET sector.

The CAS aims to provide information on all educational opportunities and training, ensuring an affordable and available application process, reducing the administrative burden of application processing for institutions and promoting awareness of the CAS.

The policy also covers, inter alia, participating institutions, responsibilities of the higher education and training department, responsibilities of CAS, responsibilities of institutions, responsibilities of applicants, selection cut-off dates, funding, application fees and governance.

The policy also proposes transitional arrangements that will enable the launch of the PSET CAS.

Meanwhile, in Gazette 41224, the department has published a list of the permanent names and addresses of fifty technical and vocational education and training colleges.

The list was drawn up in terms of the Continuing Education and Training Act.
