Government Employees Pension Fund Rules Amended

The rules of the Government Employees Pension Fund have been amended.

National treasury published the amendments in Government Gazette 41673.

Definitions on “eligible child pensioner” and “child’s pension” are inserted into the rules.

Other amendments deal with benefits on the death of a member and a pensioner.

The amendments came into force on 1 June 2018.

Meanwhile, in Gazette 41668, the South African Revenue Service has published an amendment to Schedule 4 of the Customs and Excise Act.

The amendment focuses on full duty rebates for goods designed for use by the disabled and machines used in the manufacture of goods by the disabled.

In Gazette 41667, the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors has published a proposed revised and restructured code of professional conduct for registered auditors for comment.

Written comment is invited until 2 July 2018.

In a separate matter, president Ramaphosa has assented to the Division of Revenue Bill.

The bill provides for the equitable division of revenue raised nationally among the three spheres of government for the 2018/19 financial year.
