NCOP Seeks Comment on Public Health Institute Bill

Select Committee on Social Services

The select committee on social services seeks comment on the National Public Health Institute of South Africa Bill.

The bill was tabled in May 2017.

It aims to provide for the setting up of the National Public Health Institute.

The Institute would seek to conduct disease and injury surveillance and to provide specialised public health services, public health interventions, training and research directed towards the major health challenges affecting South Africa’s population.

The national assembly passed the bill in August 2018 and sent it to the national council of provinces for concurrence.

Comment is invited until 15 November 2018.
