Hate Crimes Bill on Track

The Draft Prevention and Combating of Hate Crimes and Hate Speech Bill is on track.

In a statement, the justice and constitutional development department added that the draft bill has been revised following extensive submissions received on the proposed legislation.

The revised draft bill was approved by cabinet last week.

The department also emphasized that the proposed legislation was not being delayed.

Rather, further research had been undertaken in response to the stakeholder input.

The department points out that the revised draft bill is considerably different from the previous version.

The draft bill will be tabled soon.
