PAIA Description for CMS Released

The Council for Medical Scheme’s (CMS) description in terms of the Promotion of Access to Information Act of 2000 has been drawn up.

The justice and constitutional development department published the description in Government Gazette 41754.

It lists the category of records automatically available and the manner of access.

The list is drawn up in accordance with section 15 (2) of the act.

The section deals with the voluntary disclosure and automatic availability of certain records.

The list includes records available for inspection, purchasing, copying and free of charge.

Documents available for purchasing include medical schemes rules, annual financial statements and annul statutory returns.

A list of registered medical schemes and the CMS’s annual report are available free of charge.

Meanwhile, in Notice 371, the department has published the PAIA description for the South African Police Service.

The list includes records available for inspection, purchasing, copying and free of charge.
