Essential Services Committee Investigates Supply of Cash

An investigation to establish whether the wholesale supply of cash is an essential service is underway.

The labour department announced the investigation in Government Gazette 41445.

The Essential Services Committee is undertaking the investigation.

The scope of the investigation also includes the receipt and transfer of cash to and from the Reserve Bank, the secure distribution of bulk cash and the secure storage and processing of cash.

The notice also focuses on the generation, transmission and distribution of power, air traffic control and blood transfusion services.

Various hearings are in the pipeline.

In notice 60, the department announced changes to designations on nursing homes and old age homes.

Meanwhile, in a statement, the department expressed confidence that the national minimum wage will be introduced on 1 May 2018.
