Deeds Registries Act Fees Adjusted

Department of Rural Development and Land Reform

Revised deeds registry fees have been published in Government Gazette 41669.

The rural development and land reform department drew up the adjusted fees in terms of the Deeds Registries Act.

Some of the revised fees include:

A transfer of which the purchase price plus any additional consideration (if any) for such acquisition / the fair value of property, whichever is the greater:

•    does not exceed R100 000 - R36
•    exceeds R600 000 but does not exceed R800 000 – R852
•    exceeds R1 000 000 but does not exceed R2 000 000 – R1098
•    exceeds R2 000 000 but does not exceed R4 000 000 - R1522
•    exceeds R8 000 000 but does not exceed R10 000 000 - R2568
•    exceeds R10 000 000 but does not exceed R15 000 000 – R3057
•    exceeds R20 000 000 - R4890

The following are examples of fees for registering a bond of which the capital amount:

•    does not exceed R150 000 - R376
•    exceeds R150 000 but does not exceed R300 000 – R486
•    exceeds R600 000 but does not exceed R800 000 – R852
•    exceeds R1 000 000 but does not exceed R2 000 000 – R1098
•    exceeds R4 000 000 but does not exceed R6 000 000 - R1846
•    exceeds R10 000 000 but does not exceed R15 000 000 – R3057
•    exceeds R20 000 000 but does not exceed R30 000 000 – R4278

•    Fee for the cancellation of, or release of a person or property from the operation of a registered mortgage or notarial bond - R115.
•    For a copy of a deed – R70.
•    For a deeds office tracking system enquiry – R13.
•    For viewing a deed or document through any electronic system per deed – R13.
