LPG Regulatory Framework Under Construction

Department of Energy

The first phase of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Regulatory Framework will be completed during the second quarter of 2017/18.

The energy department announced this during a briefing in parliament on its quarter 1 performance for 2017/18.

The department added that public consultations on the draft regulations will take place in the third quarter.

The delay was caused by the need to delink the proposed regulations to amend the Maximum Refinery Gate Price for LPG from the gas to power regulatory framework.

Challenges encountered in finalizing the Socio-Economic Impact Assessment process also contributed to the delay.

The department also revealed that the Draft National Nuclear Regulator Amendment Bill had been sent to the health department for input on the proposals.
