Amendments Proposed to Civil Aviation Regulations

Amendments to Civil Aviation Regulations are on the cards.

The transport department published the draft amendments in Government Gazette 41915.

Part 71 to Schedule 1 on RPAS licensing is to be amended.

An amendment to technical standard SA CATS 71 on RPAS licensing is also proposed.

Comment on the draft amendments is invited until 21 October 2018.

Meanwhile, in Notice 984, the department published the 19th Amendment of the Civil Aviation Regulations.

The amendments include publication of AICs, crediting of flight time, new Part 93 on corporate aviation operations and high performance aircraft, supply of fuel to aircraft, licensing and operation of aerodromes and approval of aeronautical assessment of aviation obstacles.

As regards unmanned free balloons, the register shall contain detail on date and time of release, location of release, type of balloon, name of the operator and nationality and registration marks of the balloon.

The amendments come into force 30 days after date of publication.
